The House - Kitchen

I thought to start this blog I should introduce the rooms. This is the first house we have ever bought and used our wedding funds to put a deposit down on this place. It needs loads of work doing but you'll see that over time. When we moved in I was heavily pregnant and was suffering badly. Now we have our daughter so I'm somewhat useful once more around the house so for a while things were at a stand-still. Anyway on to the kitchen!

This photograph was taken the day we finally got the keys. I say finally because we were meant to move in in December and we didn't until April. I pray we never have to go near an estate agency ever again. Anyway as you can see not much in the way of storage. The cupboards on the wall are very thin and mostly for decoration. For now they are being used to store cups and hooks under it to hand teacups so it'll work for now. We're not a huge fan on the colour either but again we aren't going to die from that so that is very low on the list of work around this house. The floor has been poorly done, there's about 3 different floorings under this one and you can even see the pattern of the one under this one but again it serves a purpose perfectly fine so not a problem. The cupboards under the sink was awful, the bottom of it was rotten so father in law sorted that for us in just a few minutes and now our recycling bin and normal kitchen bin are there as well as few other bits n bobs.

Since this photograph was taken we have fixed the drawers which kept getting stuck or fall off. We have also added a shelf above the fireplace (yes that is an old fireplace which would have been used to heat water) and hooks under it to store pots and pans. Electrics have also been redone (the whole house got new electrics actually) and the old 60's council electrics have been removed, thank goodness. So what else do we want to do in here?

To Do List
Repaint cupboard and drawers OR buy new kitchen units
Install gas cooker
New sink
New worktop

For now these things all work perfectly fine, it's just they are either on their way out or are just not to our liking.
